Upon completion of this course, you will be prepared to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Pharmacy technician certification is an important issue for many industry employers and state legislatures, some of which now require national certification. You will also have the opportunity to apply for a 100+ hour externship. *Disclaimer: An externship with these pharmacies is not guaranteed. All students must apply to the program and complete the prerequisite criteria before being accepted. Positions in the program are contingent on availability at each pharmacy location. Basic computer skills, proficient in keyboarding (approximately 35 words per minute), have a basic understanding of a word-processing computer program (Microsoft Word is recommended), & have a command of English grammar and punctuation. Encouraged to have a basic understanding of high school math including percents & proportions at the algebra level. This course will provide a review of fractions & decimals, & covering more advanced pharmacy equations. To sit for the national certification exam-must be 18 years old. Yes. Externs will get hands-on experience that includes assisting pharmacists with prescriptions, answering patient questions about medications, &a bevy of administrative duties. To qualify for an externship-pass a drug screening test, obtain professional liability insurance, complete a background check and employment verification, meet current immunization standards, conform with &complete any state mandates such as registration, fingerprinting, licensing, etc.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
